English antique desks, writing furniture, from 18th and 19th centuries

DESKS: BUREAU, SECRETAIRE, CYLINDER, PARTNER
The Georgian period produced a rich selection of desks for the home and work. By far the most widely used and available is the bureau, with fall front, fitted interior writing area, drawers under, making it a requirement in good 18th century homes. The secretaire desk with its pull out drawer was a late 18th century arrival and although the cylinder desk had been around for some time, it took the Regency era for it pop onto the scene. The partners desk has always been a firm favorite and we continue to look for them whenever possible.
